Holistic Approach to Heartburn
It’s the happy hearts month and because of that, we thought of sharing some health tips on Heartburn. Heartburn is when we feel a burning sensation from our throat down to the esophagus often times coupled with other symptoms such as nausea, bloating, chest pains, stomach grumbles, and so on.  However, not a lot check for the root cause of why heartburn symptoms appear. More often than not, the short route of masking the pain away by forcefully lowering stomach acid is the quick fix we turn to. Unfortunately, it doesn't address the root cause and may even cause more damage than harm. Heartburns doesn't always mean high stomach acid. In fact, it can even mean the gut has low stomach acid that's why it's unable to absorb food well, unable to digest, and the esophagus sphincter opens up, making one feel as if acid is coming up from the stomach.

Another way to reduce heartburn symptoms is by managing stress. Our body is interconnected with each other and even if the brain and the gut may seem far off from each other, these two have a very close connection called the gut-brain connection. When the body is stressed, the gut will feel the stress as well. The gut acts like a 2nd brain and when detects stress as much as our brain does.
When we say stress, it's not only the work stress we're talking about but also the anxiety, worries, inflammation, and it could even come from too much exercise. When the body is in a state of stress, it'll be in fight or flight mode, unable to heal. With stress, heartburns can occur more frequently. Even with the right nutrition, stress is still a big factor to addressing the root cause of heartburn.
